ChemE team wins best design at TechSpark Engineering Exposition

A team of chemical engineering students won Best Design at TechSpark's spring 2026 Engineering Exposition for the project Charged Sorbents as DAC Technology. An innovative carbon capture and regeneration system, the team's one-foot cube is capable of performing direct air capture of CO2 to help mitigate emissions and sequester carbon. While current tech is costly and energy-intensive, this work focuses on small-scale, modular prototypes that test novel materials and regeneration techniques that are more efficient and sustainable.
